Past and Present:

1951 - The first institution of higher education in electrical engineeering in Craiova was established, labelled "The Institute for Machinery and Electrical Appliances" (IMEA);
1955 - The former IMEA changed its name to the Technical Institute. Subsequently, it became the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute in Bucharest, but ceased its activity one year later;
1966 - The Faculty of Electrical Engineering resumed its activity upon the foundation of the University of Craiova.
