INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS |

GENERAL INFORMATION
The
University of Craiova has an open policy towards incoming students,
promoting equality of opportunity, without social, ethnic or
religious discriminations.
The candidates are admitted in faculties according to Romanian
national standards, the minimal requirements being the
school-leaving certificate (= Baccalaureate diploma); for sport and
drama, candidates also have to pass an aptitude test.
The University gets students participating in international exchange
programmes. International exchanges are an extremely important
factor in internationalization of study, as a means of importing the
quality of education. The University of Craiova has participated in
the exchange programme ERASMUS since 1998, co-operating with more
than 60 universities from all the EU countries.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
In
most faculties the teaching language is Romanian, so incoming
students should know Romanian well; in the Faculty of languages the
teaching language is the one corresponding to the specialisation, i.
e. English, French, Russian, Italian, Spanish. Incoming students may
also study in non-philology faculties in which the teaching is done
in English or French.
The
University organises Romanian language courses (one preparatory
year); the foreign students attending them get a fair amount of
language knowledge and also Romanian for specific purposes. For the
SOCRATES students there is a limited number of places on such
intensive Romanian language courses.
