A.1 Declaration
Please read pp. 13 and 14 of the Instructions
carefully. Note that you need to provide an original signature and stamp on each
of the five copies of your IC application.
Any
application not bearing the original signature of the Head of Institution will
be subject to a request for complementary information which can have
consequences on its processing

relevant authorities of all institutions mentioned in any part of this

institutions have also included their participation in the stated activities in
their respective applications. Any failure to do so on their part will exclude
them from financial support for their participation in the activities proposed

No incoming SOCRATES/ERASMUS student
covered by this application will be required to pay tuition fees by my
institution. My institution will give full academic recognition to all its
students who successfully complete an agreed SOCRATES/ERASMUS programme of
study at a partner university abroad.

Your European
policy statement must contain precise and detailed information on the following
points (maximum two to three pages):

strategic development of your institution over the medium term, taking account

within a set period of time

context, to give a clearer insight into the activities for which assistance is
requested within the current application; this European policy statement may be
used to explain any factor involved in the activities of your application which
is not discussed elsewhere in the form

a detailed description of your
institution's initiatives to provide and/or obtain additional grants in support
of these aims
· the method planned by the institution in the framework of its European cooperation activities for addressing such European policy issues as the full participation of disadvantaged people (specifying the nature of the disadvantage: geographical location, socioeconomic circumstances, disability, etc.), equal opportunities for women and men, the adoption of quality control and evaluation measures for cooperation activities, action to combat racism and xenophobia, social and economic cohesion, etc.

A.8 Participation in other SOCRATES Actions and/or other
European cooperation programmes
Please read
carefully p. 14 of the Instructions.
Ø As specified under section II.B.14 of the 1999
Addendum to the 1998 SOCRATES Guidelines, if your institution wishes to
initiate a new Thematic Network (TN)
application for the academic year 2000/2001, it should submit, on behalf of
the partnership, an Expression of Interest, as an annex to this IC
application.
Please refer to the appropriate section of the 1998
SOCRATES Guidelines for Applicants and the TN website (http://europa.eu.int/en/comm/dg22/socrates/tnp/index.html) for the general objectives of the Thematic Networks,
the types of activities a project may comprise and the eligibility criteria.
The Rules on Eligible Expenditure refer to the financial aspects applicable to
TN.
Ø Thematic Networks are subject to a two stage Selection
Procedure: Stage 1 – Expression of Interest, and Stage 2 – Full Application.
Ø A form IS NOT
required for the submitting of a TN Expression of Interest (faxed or e-mailed
versions of an Expression of Interest ARE
NOT accepted). This should contain the following information:

each country (with list of these institutions in annex)

Candidates who are shortlisted to Stage 2 of the
selection procedure will be invited to submit a Full Application for which a
Form will be provided by the European Commission.
The deadline for the submission of a Full Application
will be 1st April 2000.
Ø If your institution is currently coordinator of or
partner in one or more of the existing
Thematic Network(s), please indicate the name of the network(s), the
subject area(s) concerned, the contract reference number (if known), and
whether your institution is TN coordinator or partner.
Specify (in ten lines maximum per network) your
institution's contribution to the activities implemented and the role played by
these activities within your European cooperation strategy.
A.8.2 Other
SOCRATES Actions (Adult Education, Comenius, Lingua, Open and Distance
Learning, etc.):
If your institution is currently coordinator of or partner in a project funded through another SOCRATES actions than ERASMUS, please indicate the name of the Action, title of the project, reference number of the project (if known).
A.8.3 Other European Programmes
If your institution is currently coordinator of or partner
in any other European programme in the field of education, training or research
(e.g. Leonardo da Vinci, the Fifth Framework Programme for research and
technological development, Jean Monnet Projects, Tempus, Phare, Tacis, Alfa,
etc.) please indicate the name of the programme, title of the project,
reference number of the project (if known).
